“There’s been a lot of talk – maybe too much talk – about W. COQ’s Tightrope Walker. Central to COQ’s claims to musical infamy, these songs were ‘penned’ (read dripped, splatted, fingerpainted) over the three years preceeding COQ’s disappearance in 2006, then took ten years to materialise thanks to COQ-producer and CIR CEO Ben W’s arcane production style. Via bootlegged rough mixes, a byline emerged, oft-quoted by COQheads: ‘A concept album about a dimension-traveller, part-man part-bird, shot through time via an irreality lacuna centred over Manhattan at the turn of the millenium.’”
